Residential Treatment Program

The Juvenile Justice Center treatment program called Bridges Academy aims to provide therapeutic programs that are part of an over-arching trauma informed system of care. The program which provides services for both male and female adolescents age 12 to 17 has an average length of stay of 8 to 12 months though it may take some youth longer to complete the program. Youth entering treatment are typically those youth who have exhausted the Court’s less restrictive services and continue to struggle in their homes, schools and communities. Youth who are placed in treatment are first screened by the Court before being referred to the program and ordered into placement. Upon admission to treatment each youth is evaluated by the Center staff and an individualized treatment plan is designed.

The program relies on highly structured daily schedules consisting of counseling, education, family support services, vocational programs, community services and life and social skills development. An individualized service plan for each youth will be developed and implemented with the input of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of program managers, clinicians, direct care staff, teachers, medical staff and probation staff. It is expected that the members of the treatment team will work to guide the youth through the levels of the programs. A key element of the treatment program is the family components. It is expected that parents are involved in the development of treatment planning and approaches as well as actively participating in all family support services.
